Miss Muffet's Hampers- Nicola & Simon

Behind the counter

A food love affair with a cheesy ending. How our family-run artisan food hamper business was born.

Founded by husband and wife, Simon and Nikki, their artisan hamper business was a product of the success of their delicatessen in Tewkesbury. Despite having unique journeys, it was a shared love of artisan food that inspired Nikki and Simon to embark on this exciting new chapter together.

Nicola’s food love affair started from an early age. She began working in the catering industry at 14 in local hotels and restaurants in Cornwall before later becoming a qualified youth worker. Always keeping her hand in home cooking, growing vegetables and visiting many deli’s and food markets in her spare time.

Simon began his working career by joining the Royal Navy where he served for 23 years as an engineer on nuclear submarines. He left the armed forces in 2002 and began a second successful career in facilities management.

They met while sailing at a small club on the Devon/Cornwall border.

The time came for Nicola to leave youth work and follow her food passion, setting her heart on owning a delicatessen. The right shop became available and they took the plunge together. Casting about for a name for the shop, Nikki recalled the cheese made at the dairy near past family home in Cornwall. The shop took the name of that cheese and became Miss Muffet’s Delicatessen.

Nikki and Simon’s daughter even played a role in their success. Over the years, she’s put her chef training to good use by providing them with some exciting recipes. And after a long voyage of deli discoveries and life experiences, they decided to bring a slice of their passion for artisan foods and cheesy goodness to your front door through Miss Muffet’s Hampers.

Food is valuable, it should not be cheap or wasted. We pride ourselves on quality, spending a little more and wasting a little less.

As a business, sustainability is key. From day one of setting up our high street delicatessen in Tewkesbury, our top priority was to source and supply fantastic tasting food that has been environmentally, ethically, and sustainably sourced.

This commitment considers everything from how and where our food is produced to the paper bags we use in our hampers.

We take great pride in running our deli and hamper businesses with as minimal environmental impact as possible.

We are very proud to have been the first business in Tewkesbury to have been awarded its Surfers Against Sewage ‘Plastic Free Champion’ award. We are also proud that we are now certified as a Carbon Neutral business!
